Oreo Dirt Cake Recipe

oreo dirt cake with worms cream cheese pudding pinit

When I’m looking for a night of indulgence and eating poorly, this is my go-to.

It’s my all-time favorite feel-good dessert…. made with all the bad (aka yummy) stuff, which is why it’s so darn good.

I love making it for my birthday or special occasion, but it makes a wonderful party dessert when you put it into small, individual-size dishes.

You can also make this as an Easter dirt cake dessert by just changing out the gummy worms with cute edible Easter treats (peeps or carrot candies) and even dying the pudding pink, green and purple and layering!

Ingredients

  • 2 packages French vanilla pudding
  • 4 cups milk
  • 12 oz whipped cream
  • 8 oz package cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (optional)
  • 1 package Oreos or similar type cookie
  • Gummy works or other sweet candy garnish

Directions

  1. Combine instant pudding and milk in a large bowl. Whisk for 5 minutes, or until pudding is soft set. Fold in cool whip then set aside.
  2. In a separate bowl, stir together cream cheese  and powdered sugar until smooth. Add to pudding mixture then stir to combine.
  3. In a food processor or blender, process Oreos to fine crumbs.
  4. Spoon 1-1/2 cups cookie crumbs into the bottom of a large bowl. Top with 1/2 the pudding mixture followed by 1-1/2 cups cookie crumbs, the remaining pudding mixture, and then the remaining cookie crumbs. Chill for at least 1 hour then top with gummy worms and/or fake flowers before serving.

Create variations by adding food coloring or using different types of pudding mix like lime or chocolate.
